The Vision of Accident-free Driving
With some 65,000 participants per year, Mercedes-Benz Driver Training has long been the largest training facility of its kind for truck drivers.
The PRE-SAFE® Brake for passenger cars brakes the vehicle if an acute risk of a head-to-tail collision is detected and the driver fails to react to the warnings.
Mercedes-Benz vehicles are fitted with up to nine airbags, while inertia-reel seat belts with adaptive belt force limiters ensure that occupants are loaded still less in the event of an impact.
 
Front Collision Guard (FCG) is a unique passive safety system designed to protect the driver and tour guide aboard the bus or coach in the event of a frontal impact.

Five-and-a-half billion people in the world take to the road every day. It is our aim to make future mobility as safe as possible for all of these people. As a pioneer in matters of safety, this aim involves doing all we can to make our "Vision of Accident-free Driving" a reality. Daimler engineers are invariably ahead of their time when it comes to vehicle safety development. Our primary objective is to prevent accidents from happening in the first place.
Our integral safety concept is based on real-life traffic scenarios and accidents. In our passenger cars and commercial vehicles, the individual safety components are networked with each other and work in perfect harmony.
This Vision of Accident-free Driving is based on a three-pillar strategy:
  • Banishing driver stress. Accident prevention is our top priority. We believe the driver is the key factor. The driver’s job is made easier thanks to high-performance systems which make the driver aware of his driving responsibilities and heighten his senses.
  • Actively mastering difficult situations with the vehicle. Accident
    prevention is our top priority. Assistance systems detect
    dangerous situations at an early stage, signal them to the driver,
    and intervene to provide assistance in order to minimise
    accidents and mitigate their consequences. The car becomes part
    of the “thinking process”.
  • Maximising safety for all road users. For over 50 years, innovative vehicle concepts and intelligent protection systems have been helping to mitigate the consequences of accidents for all road users.
